Iran urges incorporation of Poomsae in Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games

Seyed Mohammad Pouladgar, the President of Taekwondo Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran has asked members of the World Taekwondo Asia’s executive council to push for the incorporation of Poomsae in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2022.

During the WT Asia’s online General Assembly, Pouladgar, who is also the vice-president of the union, asked members to urge their Olympics Committees to call on the Olympics Committee of Asia to incorporate poomsae in 2022 Asian Games.

Poomsae had already been included in the 2018 Asian Games following a proposal by the Iranian side, where two Iranian poomsae athletes, Marjan Salahshoori and Kourosh Bakhtiyar, won silver medals.

The members of Asian Taekwondo union welcomed this proposal and agreed that members should follow the case through their respective OCs.

The 19th Asian games is to be held on 10-25 September, 2022 in Hangzhou, China.
