Iranian Taekwondo Athletes achieved 5 Gold & Bronze Medals in the Philippine on line Competition

In the first Philippine Global Taekwondo Online Speed Kicking Championships slated on October 23-25, Iranian athletes achieved 3 gold and 2 bronze medals.

 

Throughout this Covid-19 crisis, the Philippine Taekwondo Association strived to keep the country’s taekwondo community fit by hosting national tournaments and multiple regional events online, keeping competitive athletes active these past months by adapting quickly to the “new normal.”

This event is the first-ever in the world and hosted by the Philippine Taekwondo Association where athletes will have to perform the most number of kicks in exactly a minute.  The participants shall be scored by an online set of judges based on technical (number of kicks) and overall performance (quality of techniques). 

In this online event 6 Iranian female and male Athletes participated in Junior category: Saba Beigi (-44 Kg), Sogand Ji Afzam (-63Kg) and Mehdi Moosaee (-45 Kg) achieved gold medals and Yashar Eskandari (-54Kg) achieved bronze medal. In Senior category Mobina Sharifi  Maher (-53 Kg) achieved bronze medal.

About 1,000 participants from all over the world came together  from 23 countries : Japan, Korea, Guam, Ethiopia, Mexico, Iran, Botswana, and  USA.

It featured Cadet (12-14), Junior (15-17), and Senior (18 above) in both male and female divisions in ten (10) weight categories. Only a black belt degree wasrequired to join.
