Iranian Para-taekwondo fighter Asghar Azizi Aghdam in the weight category of +75kg ranked first in Tokyo Paralympic Games.

Aghdam won a gold medal at the event to increase the number of the gold medals won by Iranian para-athletes to 12.

Para-taekwondo competitions are being held for the first time meaning that Pourrahnama’s silver medal was Iran’s first medal in this field.

Iranian Para-taekwondo fighter Mehdi Pourrahnama in the weight category of – 75kg ranked 2nd in Tokyo Paralympic Games.

During the final match, Pourrahnama stood against Mexican rival and received a silver medal.

Rayeheh Shahab was the only female parataekwondo athlete participated in +58 kg.K44 category from iran who lost the bronze medal infront of her rival Amy Truesdale, Great Britain's world champion in 2017.
